Arapahoe County Court Dockets

Arapahoe County Docket Courts
Arapahoe County became the single-county 18th Judicial District on January 14, 2025, after the former district split and Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties became the new 23rd Judicial District. State docket searches for Arapahoe County should therefore use the current 18th Judicial District, not the older multi-county framing. Appeals from District Court usually go to the Colorado Court of Appeals, while County Court appeals go to District Court.

Docket vs. Full Case Record
A docket is useful for timing and status. A full case record is the set of case documents held by the Clerk of Court for the court where the matter was filed. Dockets may show that a complaint, motion, order, disposition, sentence, judgment, or warrant event exists. They usually do not provide the actual PDF copy or certified record needed for filing, employment, immigration, licensing, or appeal work.

Commercial vendor register-of-actions access is a third path. The Judicial Branch identifies vendors such as CoCourts, LexisNexis Colorado Courts Record Search, Background Information Services, and Tessera Data for limited online access. Vendor data may be real-time from Judicial Department systems, but it is not the official court record and document copies still come from the court.
Read Arapahoe County Dockets
Docket entries should be read as a timeline. A civil docket may include complaint, answer, summons, proof of service, motion, response, order, hearing, judgment, garnishment, or appeal entries. A criminal docket may include advisement, charge, plea, bond order, warrant, disposition, sentence, restitution, or probation entries. Domestic and probate dockets may include restricted child, financial, medical, guardianship, or protected-person details that are withheld from public view.
Some docket language is short. A disposition is the outcome of a charge or case event. A continuance means the hearing was postponed. A bench warrant usually means a judge issued a warrant after missed court or noncompliance. A judgment is the final enforceable decision in a civil case. If a docket term affects rights, confirm it through the court clerk or an attorney before relying on a short result line.

Arapahoe Hearing Limits
Some Arapahoe County court events have practical rules that matter when reading a docket. The local Judicial Branch page says protection orders must be filed before 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday so the petitioner can complete paperwork, clerk staff can process it, and a judge can review it the same day. Protection orders filed after that time are addressed promptly the next business day. Weekend bond hearings are listed locally for Saturdays at 1:00 p.m., so bond-related docket timing can differ from regular weekday calendars.
Security screening can delay arrival for docket calls. The Justice Center and Littleton courthouse prohibit items that can be used as weapons, including firearms, knives, scissors, needles, gases, explosives, and tools. Food and drinks may be inspected or passed through x-ray. Anyone using docket results for an in-person appearance should verify the courthouse, courtroom, time, and security rules before leaving for court.
Municipal Docket Checks
Arapahoe County has municipal court matters that do not always follow the state court docket path. City ordinance violations and some municipal traffic tickets are handled by local municipal courts. The City of Centennial ticket page, for example, says citations may not be available for 7-10 business days after issuance. That type of timing note is important because a new ticket may not appear immediately in an online payment or court system.
Use the issuing court named on the citation, summons, or notice. If the case belongs to a city court, the Colorado Judicial Branch docket search may not be the best tool. If the case belongs to state County Court or District Court, use the Arapahoe County filters in the Judicial Branch docket search. When the source is unclear, call the court listed on the paperwork before assuming a missed court date has no docket entry.
After Finding a Docket
A docket result often answers only the next hearing question. If the user needs the complaint, motion, order, decree, disposition, sentencing order, or probate filing behind an entry, the next step is a document request. The statewide Record/Document Request Form asks for requester contact information, address fields, and case number when known. The court then contacts the requester with more information. The research notes a three-business-day response target unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Compiled or aggregate court, probation, or financial data is handled differently from a person-specific case request. The Judicial Branch access guide points data requests to Chief Justice Directive 05-01 section 4.40 and separate email channels for court data, financial data, and probation data. Those requests may have costs and are not a substitute for checking a single Arapahoe County docket or requesting a single case document.
